The stallions that have been used in the Al Waha breeding programme have excellent pedigrees, show and race records. The first stallion was Midnight Gold (King Cotton Gold x Enchantment), British National Champion In Hand and Under Saddle. He was sold in 1987 to Qatar and has left mares at Al Waha that are proving to be excellent broodmares - he was probably sold too early. Midnight Gold
In 1985, Narim RASB (Moment x Nejnaia by Nabeg) with a race record of 2/16(3-6-5), was purchased in Russia at public auction; his first foals were born in 1987. He has sired two British National Champions, two Reserve British National Champions, numerous other show winners and seven winners on the racetrack in different countries. Narim RASB has been such an excellent sire that he has put us on the international map of Arabian horse breeders. Narim RASB in 1986
Gonorar (Menes x Mastika by Aswan) was purchased in 1990 but died in 1995. Winner of 5 races including the Russian St Leger, he was also a beautiful Arabian - in 1991, he was U.K. International Champion Stallion and 3rd at the World Championships in Paris. In 1993, he was British National Champion Stallion and also won the coveted Roy Creber award for the Supreme Champion against Pure-breds, Anglo-Arabs and Partbreds. Gonorar
Outside stallions have been used or leased and were selected for type, conformation, pedigree and ability: Mamluk (Aswan x Monogramma) was leased for three seasons. He was an excellent racehorse sire, siring Vadeer (GB and UAE), Nimul, Sea Asluk, Baheer (2nd Emir's Cup, Qatar), and Sinan (Qatar). One daughter is retained in the mare band. Mamluk at age 20
Galop (Aswan x Pikula by Kankan) 7/33(4-6-3) stood at stud for Al Waha or two seasons for his owner, Kathryn Ford-Critchley before his sale to Qatar. His results include places in Russian Classic races and several Show Championships. His first foals were born in 1994. Galop
Diskant (Naftalin x Pesnianka by Nabeg) with a race record of 8/34(5-8-9) including Classic Places in Russia and UK, was used only for the 1993 season before his untimely death - two fillies are retained.
Div (Peleng x Poprigunia by Pomeranets) 5/25(12-2-3-3), Leading 4/5 year old in Britain, owned by a client, covered two mares in 1994 before his sale to Clarendon Stud.
In 1995, we had at the stud two American stallions, retired from the racetrack, belonging to the Maktoum family of Dubai who have generously allowed these stallions to stand their first breeding season at Al Waha. They are C Patriot (Pyatigorsk x Brusally Ormiro by Orzel) 2/30(7-8), a record holder at Los Alamitos track in California, and NBR Seykret Cache (Kezoram x LAS Seykret) 4/23(13-6-2-2) and winner of the USA Californian Derby. There are two colts and two fillies at Al Waha by NBR Seykret Cache. C Patriot is still at Al Waha at stud, NBR Seykret Cache is now in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The new young stallion owned by Al Waha is Morjak (Drug x Mexicanka by Namek); he is by European Show Champion and multi-Classic Race Winner Drug 5/39(15-11-3-3) with a superbly documented racing dam line. He has covered mares and will be racing this year. He was Best 2 Year Old Colt at the British Nationals in 1995. Morjak
We have been looking forward to using at stud the young stallion Daas (Imad x Dancing Queen by Dancing King), tracing in all lines to horses registered in the General Stud Book. His type and quality has been recognised by being awarded 1st and Reserve Junior Male at Bath & West and 3rd at the British National Show in 1996. Definitely a stallion to watch out for!! His first foals are due in 1997 out of English and Russian mares. Daas - 'English Excellence'
Also at stud, with his first foals due in 1997 which we await with great expectations, is Palubnik (Balaton x Pesnianka by Nabeg), bred in Russia. Shown once and for the first time in 1996, he was 3rd behind the British National Champion. Palubnik
